Location, Location, Location Salem Oregon is a great vacation destination, so if you are traveling here from out-of-town, perhaps you could stay an extra day and visit our Oregon Coast (only 60 miles to the west) and Mt. Hood (about 90 miles northeast of us). We are equally an hour's drive from the ski slopes of the Cascades to the beaches of the coast. Silver Falls State Park boasts ten waterfalls along the hiking trails, many of which go behind the falls (just 30 minutes away). We're a quick 45-minute drive by interstate from the Portland International airport - just off the Salem Parkway which zips you into north Salem to our doorstep. From Eugene 1.
